That's what Romilly asked us as soon as she got out of the car at Sunrise Lodge in Mount Rainier Park and saw the looming mount in the foreground. She was very interested in the views and vistas and certainly had an easier "hike"(more like a very steep walk) than we did to Sourdough Ridge.
Snow Lake is a 2.5 mile, or about a two hour hike from the off-road car park. It is easy to moderate, with a series of slight ridges to cross, ascending and descending into meadows and glacial lakes reaching Bench Lake after ¾ mile, then continuing another ½ mile to Snow Lake.
The destination is never the focus of a road trip. The best experiences and photos are along the path to get there.
