  1. Rhyolite

One of Nevada's most recognizable ghost towns. Abandoned in 1916.

  2. The Elrod House

John Lautner's incredible desert house for Arthur Elrod. A massive concrete roof hung over an indoor outdoor pool with boulders in the living room makes the house feel sort of like a super modern cave.

  3. Tom's Restaurant

The restaurant made famous as the establishing shot in Seinfeld episodes, as well as the Suzanne Vega song, "Tom's Diner". It's good diner food, if a little overpriced and overcrowded for the neighborhood (because of its celebrity status).

  4. The Basilica Cistern

One of the largest of the cisterns under Istanbul. A giant cathedral like space full of columns it holds nearly 80,000 gallons of water.
